多くの国を旅していた際に様々なお店でビーズを買い集めてきました。
フランスはカラフルなものやカットがユニークなビーズが沢山あり、ドイツなどは木製のビーズ
やてんとう虫の形になったものがあったり、アメリカのビーズは昔のコスチュームジュエリーから
どこか化学調味料が入ったお菓子の色の様なビーズが見つけられる。
During my travel experience everywhere in the world, I have been collecting all sorts of beads.
In France, you can find colorful ones or unique shape ones and in Germany, you can find wooden beads
or beads in a shape of ladybird. In states, you can find old costume jewelry to beads that looks like a sweets with
Chemical stuff on it. I love every countries own twist to beads.
日本のビーズはとても繊細で仕事が綺麗。
TOHOさんは有名だけれども、CHERRY BRANDというビーズをご存知な方はあまりいないかもしれない。
実は、日本は大正時代に海外にビーズを輸出していたそうです。
Japanese beads are nicely made and sort of delicate.
TOHO is surely famous one but there are brand called CHERRY BRAND who may not be famous now.
They used to export beads globally from 1920s.
CHERRY BEADSの手巻きビーズ
形は歪だけれども、なんか色も燻んだ白が趣きがあって、私は凄く好きです。
The shape of CHERRY BRANDS is not necessary perfect as those are made by hands.
But I like the WHITE they express and also the mark of someone’s hands.

表現しようと、「Cherry」の名を携えて異国の地を踏んだそう。
In 1922, Mr Wakamatsu established CHERRY BRAND. No one had idea of
Being international or even had a sense of international business that time but
Wakamatsu was different. He wanted to introduce Japan though beads.
He chose CHERRY from cherry blossom which is something Japan was
proud of at that time.
彩り豊かな「Cherry Brand」の日本独特の精巧な技術は徐々に認められ、世界中に
広がっていきました。海外輸出は戦時下を除いて1993年まで続いたが、その後は
残念ながら中断したままだったそうです。
The technology and for it’s beauty, Cherry Brand got known by many people
Out side of Japan. Except the war era, Cherry Brand got exported to the world
Till 1933 since then they stopped.
この背景に一目惚れして、ネックレス作りに取り入れたいと思いました。
